It’s interesting that whilst the Mediterranean is home to a large variety of aromatic plants, the finest examples rarely ever cross the narrow borders of their native lands. Put simply, Greece is where some of the highest quality Mediterranean cooking herbs naturally prefer to grow. The varieties that grow in Greek soil can contain up to 30 times more essential oils (a parameter that defines their quality) than other typically available herbs sourced form elsewhere. Moreover, thanks to its immense diversity of microclimates, Greece is home to an infinite list of endemic plants. D&C are sourced from natural plantations and family-run farms where the produce is grown according to organic agricultural principles.

When we started our research, we were surprised to discover that Oregano is not "one" herb, but rather a generic name used to define over 40 different plants around the world. According to botanical scientists, Greece happens to be where some of the most praised varieties thrive.

Sourcing: Our suppliers are organic farmers who run a natural farm on a little known, mountainous village of the Peloponnese. Our oregano grows surrounded by walnut and chestnut trees, in a beautiful scenery with great views. 1) It makes Meat Healthier: Oregano minimises the bad effects of meat consumption, as it helps lower cholesterol levels & is rich in precious fibers.
2) It is good for your E.V.O.O: Many traditional stews cook in Olive Oil, which is rich in monounsaturated fats. However these healthy fats are heat unstable and oxidise in cooking. Thanks to its antioxidants, good quality oregano extends olive oil's resistance to heat.
3) It loves Sardines: Season with oregano, lemon and olive oil. This pairing increases the intake of antioxidants and consequently protects the precious Omega-3 and Omega-6 of the fish.
